Our Vision

We’re proud to have supported Land Based Colleges & Universities for over 70 years

Our mission is to support and advocate for its members, and more broadly the land based occupational and education sectors. This often manifests as benchmarking across the sector, liaising with bodies such as DEFRA, DfE, City and Guilds, AoC and GuildHE and partnering with other national stakeholders such as TIAH, NFU, EFT and Lantra.

Landex’s mission is also to ensure that all our members will be recognised by their learners and stakeholders as providing high quality cost-effective land based (Agri-Food, Land and Animal Sciences) education, training and professional development.

It is to also ensure that our members are valued by their communities and employers for their contribution to the sustainability of businesses, the well-being of society and the prosperity of rural economies.

About us

Our Members

Landex is a membership organisation of 39 Land based colleges and universities across the UK, with a farming footprint of 15,000 hectares and 7000 residential beds.  33 of these institutions are designated specialist land-based providers.

The Ofsted profile, or other devolved quality measure was 95% good or better (summer 2023).

Analysis of Further Education learner enrolment numbers on Land based courses in all settings has shown pleasing growth (2018-2022), with 77% of that growth in numbers being directly attributed to designated specialist land-based providers.

Early indicators are that there has been growth again in the current cohorts. Providers have worked hard to promote the sector and coupled with the impact of high-profile influencers and the environmental agenda; numbers have grown.

This demonstrates the value that is placed by learners and employers on these specialist providers and recognises the impact of the investment that consecutive governments have made in the high-quality resource. Apprenticeship starts are also seeing very pleasing growth in the sector, with 31 standards now available, with 2 more in development and scheduled launch in 2025.
